Through invigorating forests to colourful meadows

Welcome to the Nordwald Nature Park

An extensive forest area on the western edge of the Waldviertel highlands between Bad Großpertholz and Karlstift is home to this Nature Park with a Nordic-Scandinavian character. The dense coniferous forests are broken up by insular farmland and meadows, ponds and raised bogs. In between, bizarre rock formations can be found all over the area. The imposing lookout tower on top of the Schwarzenberg hill offers a magnificent view over this scenery. On hot summer days, the boggy Stierhübelteich pond amidst the Nordwald forest near Karlstift offers pleasant cooling.
